The group members share interests in the different areas, all related to parallel and distributed computing and their applications to real-life problems.
We designed and currently maintain the FastFlow framework with the Univ. of Torino (Prof. Aldinucci’s group) and we contributed several new algorithmic skeletons/parallel design patterns including the Pool Evolution and several distinct Data Stream Processing patterns, in addition to more general concepts such as Behavioural Skeletons (parallel patterns with autonomic managers), Macro Data Flow implementation techniques for structured parallel applications and the RISC-pbbb set of parallel components that can be used to implement a large number of different parallel patterns.
